Ah very interesting. I'll try this out later, thanks!
I'm just a grad student making his way in the world by making movies, to entertain others, I do a lot of gaming in my time and I'm also quite the artist in my spare time. Be sure to check out my portfolios while you're here!

Glad to contribute!
It's a pretty handy technique, especially when combining Flash animated characters with After Effects effect stuff. Though the downside for using it with animations is movie clip animations won't work and you'll need to have a seperate audio file for the movie to import with it.
Are you sure? I had a video file play in the background of Link in my "Cooler than Coat Hangers" SWF animation which, obviously, still worked pretty well. But then again, I did have to convert it to FLV format to get flash to accept it.
Also it's a fun fact to know that some of the animators behind Metalocalypse use flash and export the projects to after effects to add some further razzle-dazzle!
I'm using the swf to video converter from Moyea, it seems good.

Wha? $1500 for the pro version? That better be a damned good program!

Nice! ... i'd get after effects if i wasn't so scared of Flash CS5.

Yeah, I'm definitely regretting that transition...
although you still can use After Effects CS5 without having to got to Flash CS5. Just drag and drop your old SWF file straight into a new composition and go NUTS!
